CM announces Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia for family of woman killed by crashed drone debris
Ferozepur, May 13, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has expressed deep grief over the tragic death of Sukhwinder Kaur, a resident of village Khai Pheme Ki in Ferozepur district, who succumbed to injuries sustained from debris of a crashed drone. The Chief Minister has announced an ex gratia grant of Rs. 5 lakh for the bereaved family.
Providing details of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Mrs.Deepshikha Sharma stated that on the night of May 9, a piece of debris from a drone engagement fell onto a parked car and the fire thereof injured three members of the same family — Lakhwinder Singh (son of Bagicha Singh), his wife Sukhwinder Kaur, and their son Monu. All three were rushed to Baghi Hospital for First Aid.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Sukhwinder Kaur, who sustained severe burn injuries, was referred to DMC Hospital, Ludhiana, for advanced medical care. Despite best efforts by doctors, she succumbed to her injuries late last night yesterday.
The Punjab Government has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announcing an ex gratia grant of Rs. 5 lakh for the bereaved family.
