Nawanshahr to get new dump site, cemented main Bazar road soon: Minister Ravjot Singh

Nawanshahr (Punjab), May 13, 2025 – Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Tuesday visited the existing dump site in Nawanshahr city and announced that a new waste dump site would soon be established in an open area to ease the burden on city residents and improve sanitation.
During his visit, Dr. Singh also reviewed the ongoing water pipeline installation work along the busy Railway Road, also known as Main Bazar.He revealed that the road, which is a vital commercial stretch in the heart of the city, will be upgraded to a cemented road once the pipeline work is completed.
“All necessary approvals are being fast-tracked to ensure the road-laying work begins without delay,” he said.
Addressing long-term infrastructure development, Dr. Singh shared updates on sewerage and STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) projects, stating that newly developed colonies and extended areas will be incorporated into the expansion plan.
He mentioned that Rs. 48 crore in funding would be required and assured that the Punjab Government is fully committed to completing this crucial urban development project.
Also present during the visit were Improvement Trust Chairman Satnam Singh Jalwaha, Vice Chairman of Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training Lalit Mohan Pathak, and District Planning Committee Chairman Satnam Singh Jalalpur, along with other local officials.
