Among the worst-hit regions are Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Kapurthala, and Hoshiarpur, where rising waters have damaged homes, displaced families, and cut off vital road links.
Relief and rescue operations are underway with the SDRF, NDRF, and district administrations working round the clock. Deputy Commissioners have been directed to speed up rehabilitation, plug river breaches, and ensure essential supplies reach stranded families.
Officials stressed that while rescue efforts continue, damage assessment to property, livestock, and infrastructure is ongoing, and the full scale of losses will emerge only after waters recede.
