42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament: Indian Railways secure Quarterfinal Spot; Punjab & Sind Bank exit

Jalandhar (Punjab), October 27, 2025:Former champions Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi registered their first win in the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by defeating the Indian Air Force 2-1. However, despite the victory, the team failed to qualify for the quarterfinals on the basis of goal average.
On the fifth day of the tournament, held at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar, Indian Railways Delhi secured a 2-0 win over Army XI Delhi to confirm their berth in the quarterfinals.
In Pool B, Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi took the lead in the 35th minute through Jaskaran Singh, before Indian Air Force’s Rahul Rajbhar equalised in the 37th minute. Jaskaran struck again in the 47th minute to seal the Bank’s first win of the league stage.
All three teams in the pool — Punjab Police, Indian Air Force, and Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi — finished with three points each. However, Punjab Police and Indian Air Force advanced to the quarterfinals owing to a better goal average.
In Pool D, Indian Railways Delhi dominated Army XI Delhi, with Parampreet Singh scoring in the 22nd minute and Lovepreet Singh adding another in the final minute to complete a 2-0 win. With this, Indian Railways topped the pool with four points from two matches, while Army XI finished second with three points.
The chief guests for the day included Paramjit Singh Vilkhu, Narinder Singh Vilkhu (Sutlej Motors), Charanjit Singh Channi (CT Group), and Daljit Singh, IRS (Customs), who introduced the teams.
