Punjab Assembly’s temporary structure at Anandpur Sahib to be ready by Nov 20; special House session to begin after Nagar Kirtan on Nov 24
Sri Anandpur Sahib, November 6, 2025:
Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the temporary venue being built for a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha at Sri Anandpur Sahib to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur will be completed by November 20. Chairing a review with a Group of Ministers and senior officials at Virasat-e-Khalsa, he said the commemorative sitting aims to take the Guru’s message of religious freedom and human values to a wider audience.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said a Nagar Kirtan will set out from Gurdwara Bibangarh Sahib (Kiratpur Sahib) on November 24 and, upon its arrival at Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib (Anandpur Sahib), the special Assembly session will formally commence. Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond added that ministers and MLAs, along with their families, will reach Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 23, with stay arrangements at Bhai Sati Das Pandal and dedicated transport and logistics for smooth movement.
Tourism Department advisor Deepak Bali said ministers and MLAs will join the sangat as sevadars during the commemorative programmes, and a special drone show is planned after the Assembly proceedings. After the meeting, Delhi’s former deputy chief minister and Punjab in‑charge Manish Sisodia, Speaker Sandhwan, the Group of Ministers and officials inspected preparations at the Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial complex and issued directions on seating, galleries, security and public arrangements.
The review was attended by senior officers from parliamentary affairs, tourism, water supply, public works, local government, hospitality and police, including ACS D.K. Tiwari, Dr Abhinav Trikha, Hargunjeet Kaur, Jaspreet Singh, Kulwant Singh, Tej Singh Saini, ADGP Surinderpal Singh Parmar, DIG Nanak Singh, DC Varjeet Walia and SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana.
