Chandigarh, November 25, 2025: In a major late-night development, Panjab University, Chandigarh has announced that the campus will remain closed on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, following strong protests and a shutdown call by the Panjab University Bachao Morcha over the long-pending Senate elections.
In an official press release issued today (No. 18971/C, dated 25.11.2025), the Controller of Examinations informed that the exams scheduled for November 26 for students appearing in examination centres CHD40, CHD41, CHD43, and CHD44, earlier shifted to DAV College, Sector 10, now stand postponed.
Fresh dates will be announced later.
This marks a clear reversal from the university’s earlier stance. The PU authorities had initially declared November 26 as a normal teaching day, stating that classes and examinations would continue despite the protest call.
However, with the Panjab University Bachao Morcha intensifying its agitation and announcing a complete shutdown of the campus, the administration was compelled to take a U-turn. The decision comes amid rising tensions, concerns over student safety, and the possibility of disruption on campus.
The Morcha has been demanding immediate announcement of the Senate election schedule, an issue that has been simmering for months. The ongoing protests have grown sharper after the November 10 shutdown, which saw massive student participation and heightened pressure on the administration.
With today’s development, the standoff between the PU administration and protesting students continues, as the demand for restoring democratic functioning through timely Senate elections remains unresolved.
