Chandigarh, November 26, 2025: Farmers from across Punjab, under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), have begun assembling at the Dussehra Ground in Sector-43, Chandigarh, to press for their key demands. Senior SKM leaders including Harmeet Singh Qadian, Harinder Singh Lakhowal, Ravneet Singh, and Raminder Singh Patiala have already reached the venue, where langar sewa has been initiated for the protesting farmers.

With thousands of farmers expected to participate, security arrangements in and around Sector-43 have been significantly tightened. A heavy police force has been deployed to maintain law and order and to prevent any untoward incidents during the gathering.
Farmers are primarily protesting against the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025, which they claim threatens their existing protections and benefits.

They are also demanding adequate compensation and relief for farmers affected by the recent floods in Punjab, stating that the losses to crops and property have not yet been properly addressed by the government.
