Chandigarh, November 27, 2025: Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema announced today the release of ₹213 crore as the first installment of funds under the ambitious 'Rangla Punjab Scheme,' which is aimed at boosting development across the state. Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Cheema stated that the scheme, introduced in this year’s budget under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has a total allocation of ₹585 crore, earmarking ₹5 crore specifically for development works in every Assembly constituency. The Minister confirmed that the funds have been released to various Panchayats based on proposals from dedicated committees comprising MLAs and officials, which have been formed to ensure the proper utilization of the money. Cheema emphasized the government's continuous commitment to development, noting that ₹334 crore had previously been released to Panchayats, Zila Parishads, and Panchayat Samitis. He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including the construction of over 3,000 stadiums for youth and 19,000 kilometers of new roads, while stressing that the AAP government is delivering on its promises continuously, unlike previous governments that reserved such initiatives for their final year.
