Fazilka doctors honored with DGP Disc for exemplary service during Floods
Fazilka, November 29, 2025: In a proud moment for the Health Department, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh of Fazilka honoured 11 dedicated doctors with the prestigious DGP Disc for their outstanding service in providing healthcare during natural calamities and public health emergencies.
This recognition serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of Fazilka's medical fraternity towards public welfare, significantly mitigating suffering and saving countless lives during natural calamities and health emergencies. The DGP Disc honour not only acknowledges their past achievements but also inspires continued excellence in healthcare delivery for the benefit of the entire district.
The recognized doctors include Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Rohit Goyal, General Surgeon Dr. Arpit Gupta, Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Nishaat Setia, Senior Medical Officers Dr. Addison Eric and Dr. Bhupen Sisodia of District Hospital, along with Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Dr. Sanmaan, Dr. Dharmveer, Dr. Sonima, Dr. Priya Kamboj, and Dr. Pooja Watts.
During the recent devastating floods, these doctors demonstrated remarkable dedication by setting up medical camps to provide essential healthcare services to affected communities and using boats to reach flood-stranded individuals, delivering life-saving medicines and treatment. They ensured pregnant women received uninterrupted medical care despite the challenging conditions.
SSP Gurmeet Singh praised their selfless service, stating, "Their efforts during the floods have been truly inspiring. They left no stone unturned in providing healthcare to those in need."
In addition to their flood relief efforts, the Health Department, led by these doctors, has been vigorously combating the dengue outbreak. The entire health workforce is operating at a war footing, conducting awareness campaigns, implementing preventive measures, and providing timely treatment to patients. Addressing the gathering, SSP Gurmeet Singh extended his congratulations to the honoured doctors and encouraged them to maintain their excellent performance in safeguarding public health during emergencies.
The ceremony was attended by Punjab Police officials and Health Department staff, including Sukhjinder Singh and Paras Kataria.
