Railway holds Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, Engg Team clinches title
Ferozepur, December 1, 2025: The Ferozepur Division successfully organised an inter-departmental cricket tournament from November 1 to November 30, 2025. In the first semifinal, Diesel Shed Ludhiana defeated the Mechanical team, while in the second semifinal, the Engineering team outplayed Electric Shed Ludhiana.
In the final match held on November 30, Engineering captain Rohit Verma won the toss and opted to bat first. The team posted an impressive total of 247 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Ravi stole the show with a blistering 145 runs off 71 balls. In response, Diesel Shed Ludhiana managed 214 runs for 7 wickets, falling short by 33 runs. Engineering emerged victorious, showcasing excellent all-around performance.
Ravi was adjudged Man of the Match, while Love Malhotra received the Man of the Series award for his all-round performance. Sanjeev was named Best Bowler, and Ravi also took home the Best Batsman award.
During the concluding prize distribution ceremony, Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Divisional Sports Officer Rahul Dev, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Rishi Pandey, Divisional Sports Officer Babar Ali Chagata, and other officials were present.
Individual prizes were awarded to encourage the players. The DRM honoured both the winning and runner-up teams with trophies. He also presented mementoes to the officials and supporting staff, acknowledging their efforts behind the successful organisation of the tournament.
The tournament received enthusiastic participation from railway officers and employees and concluded in an atmosphere of true sportsmanship.
