Sukhwinder Singh Bindra assumes charge as NISD Member, Special Invitee to NCCDR

New Delhi, December 18, 2025: Sukhwinder Singh Bindra formally assumed charge as Member of the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) and Special Invitee/Member of the National Committee on Rehabilitation and Drug Demand Reduction (NCCDR) under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, in the presence of Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar.
On the occasion, Dr. Virendra Kumar visited the Ministry office and extended his best wishes and guidance to Shri Bindra.
Sudhansh Pant, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, along with senior officials of the Ministry, was also present.
During the interaction, detailed discussions were held on key priorities including youth empowerment, social justice initiatives, and effective strategies for the prevention of substance abuse. The Union Minister emphasized the need for sustained, result-oriented efforts to strengthen programmes aimed at safeguarding and empowering the nation’s youth.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sukhwinder Singh Bindra reaffirmed the Ministry’s firm commitment to keeping youth away from drug abuse through awareness, empowerment, and rehabilitation-focused initiatives. He stressed that coordinated action between policy, institutions, and ground-level implementation is crucial for achieving sustainable outcomes, and expressed confidence that India will move decisively towards becoming a drug-free nation.
Shri Bindra also expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar for their visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to youth empowerment and social justice.
