Chandigarh, January 4, 2026:Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government in Punjab in the 2027 elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and transform the state into one of the country’s most developed.
Speaking at a public gathering at the grain market in Ghanaur, Patiala district, Saini accused the current Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of failing the people with broken promises, rising drug abuse, unemployment, and corruption.
Saini said that once the BJP comes to power, Punjab will witness development on the lines of Haryana, citing the BJP’s achievements in his own state.
He highlighted schemes such as subsidized LPG cylinders, pensions for senior citizens, crop compensation, and the Chirayu health scheme, claiming that these initiatives had significantly improved lives in Haryana.
He sharply criticized the AAP government, alleging that its promises of drug-free Punjab, women’s allowances, and senior citizen pensions remain unfulfilled. “The doors of the AAP government shut after 5 pm. No matter how many promises they make, they have nothing to deliver. Punjab is paying the price for their failures,” Saini said.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the BJP’s commitment to farmers, education, and healthcare, claiming that under BJP governance, crop compensation, healthcare schemes, and educational initiatives are implemented effectively, unlike under AAP or previous Congress governments.
Saini concluded by asserting that corruption in Punjab has reached new heights under the current government, with ministers allegedly behind bars, and promised that once BJP forms the government, Prime Minister Modi would make Punjab a top-performing state, replicating Haryana’s development model.
Former Minister Aseem Goel, former Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, and other leaders also addressed the gathering.
