Chandigarh, January 5, 2026: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of Sarpanch Jarmal Singh of Valtoha village in Tarn Taran district, who was shot dead during a wedding function in Amritsar on Sunday.
Reacting sharply to the incident, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal said the killing reflects a deeply alarming trend of targeted violence across Punjab. He pointed out that just a day earlier, a young man was gunned down in Bhinder Kalan (Moga), while a woman was shot dead in Kapurthala on Friday, highlighting what he described as a complete breakdown of law and order.
Sukhbir Singh Badal said that targeted killings in public places have become routine, creating an atmosphere of fear among citizens. He squarely blamed the state government, stating that the situation exposes a total policing failure under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the Home portfolio.
“The Chief Minister cannot evade responsibility for this growing lawlessness. Punjab is witnessing a dangerous collapse of public safety, and the government must be held accountable,” the SAD president said.
