"United Punjab Congress is a hollow claim”, says AAP's Kuldeep Dhaliwal

Chandigarh, January 9, 2026 — Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a fierce counter-attack against Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today, labeling the narrative of a "United Punjab Congress" as a complete fabrication.
Dhaliwal asserted that the Congress remains a fractured house, deeply divided by the personal power struggles of its top leaders.
Dhaliwal pointed to recent statements made by Randhawa, where the Congress leader reportedly expressed a desire to hold the positions of both State Party President and Chief Minister.
"A leader who cannot see beyond his own personal ambitions has no moral authority to talk about unity," Dhaliwal stated.
He argued that while Randhawa publicly claims he will accept any decision made by the Congress high command—including Rahul Gandhi and in-charge Bhupesh Baghel—his private aspirations reveal a different story of internal competition for the top spot.
The AAP spokesperson further claimed that the Punjab Congress is merely an "arena of factionalism," where senior leaders like Raja Warring, Charanjit Singh Channi, Pratap Singh Bajwa, and Rana Gurjeet are all operating within their own isolated camps.
According to Dhaliwal, the "hunger for power" among these individuals has not only ruined the state in the past but is now systematically destroying the Congress party from within. He challenged Randhawa to unconditionally state that he would support any CM candidate the party chooses, rather than positioning himself for the role.
Turning the focus toward the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, Dhaliwal expressed absolute confidence that the people of Punjab have already rejected the Congress factions.
He maintained that the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government has spent the last few years delivering historic, people-centric development that stands in stark contrast to the internal strife of the opposition.
"On the basis of our work and the transparent governance provided by CM Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party will once again form the government in 2027," Dhaliwal concluded. He emphasized that while Congress leaders fight over titles, the AAP remains focused on completing its development roadmap for the remaining year of its current term to ensure a "Rangla Punjab."
