SEC announces election schedule for vacant Sarpanch, Panch posts in Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur

Chandigarh, January 5, 2026: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Monday announced the schedule for elections to vacant posts of Sarpanches and Panches in select Gram Panchayats of Tarn Taran and Gurdaspur districts.
According to a notification issued on January 5, 2026, elections will be conducted in six Gram Panchayats of Gurdaspur district—Kalanaur Mojowal, Kalanaur Purani, Kalanaur P.A.P, Kalanaur Chakri, Kalanaur Dhaki and Kalanaur Zaildara—and four Gram Panchayats of Tarn Taran district, namely Kazi Kot (70) (Nalagarh-69), Kakka Kandiala (63), Pandori Gola (79) and Mari Kamboke (68).
As per the notified programme, the last date for filing nominations is January 8, 2026. Polling will be held on January 18, 2026, and the counting of votes will take place on the same day immediately after the close of polling at the respective polling stations.
The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with immediate effect within the revenue jurisdiction of the concerned Gram Panchayats and will remain in force until the completion of the election process on January 19, 2026.
The Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of Gurdaspur and Tarn Taran have been directed to make all necessary arrangements to ensure that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, the Commission said.
