Jagraon (Punjab), January 5, 2026: In a shocking incident, Gagandeep Singh, the nephew of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Jagraon Sarbjit Kaur Manuke, was brutally shot dead by unidentified assailants on Monday.
According to information received, the attackers displayed audacity even after committing the murder. They reportedly went to the victim’s house and openly threatened the family, informing them about the killing and stating that Gagandeep Singh’s body was lying in the fields.
Eyewitness accounts and family members said the assailants shouted outside the house, saying, “We have killed your son. His body is lying in the fields, go and collect it.” Gagandeep Singh was married and is survived by his wife and young children.
Reacting to the incident, a visibly grief-stricken MLA Sarbjit Kaur Manuke said, “A mother has lost her son, who was also my nephew. This naked display of hooliganism achieves nothing except leaving behind dead bodies.”
She urged the police administration and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to arrest the accused at the earliest and ensure strict action. The MLA also directed that intensified checking of illegal weapons be carried out in the constituency to prevent such incidents in the future.
The police have launched an investigation into the murder, and further details are awaited.
