Chandigarh | January 6, 2026: With the objective of promoting yoga among the masses, the Haryana Yoga Aayog will organise its annual Surya Namaskar campaign from January 12 to February 12 this year. The month-long campaign will begin on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and conclude on the birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati.
In preparation for the campaign, the Ayush Department has started organising training sessions for yoga assistants to ensure its effective and smooth implementation across the state.
A spokesperson of the Haryana Yoga Aayog said that with the support of the Ayush Department, Haryana has set six world records over the past four years through this initiative, including an achievement recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. Under the campaign, each district has been assigned a target of at least one lakh registrations, with directions issued to ensure 100 percent participation from all villages.
The spokesperson further said that various departments and organisations, including Ayush, Education, Sports, Health, Police, Arya Samaj and other institutions, along with all major state departments, will actively participate in the campaign. Specially trained master trainers will ensure the regular practice of Surya Namaskar in schools, colleges and yoga centres.
As part of the initiative, Surya Namaskar will be performed during early morning hours following yogic principles. Participants will practice six rounds daily, taking approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Individuals and institutions that complete six consecutive days of practice and update their participation details on the official website will be issued online certificates.
Registration on the official campaign website will be mandatory for all participants, the spokesperson added.
