260 volunteers participate in 7-Day Civil Defence Training Program

Ferozepur, January 9, 2026: A seven-day Civil Defence training program commenced today at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Ferozepur, following the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and under the leadership of DGP Punjab Home Guards, Sandeep Kalra.
As many as 260 volunteers, including university students, representatives from various colleges, and members of several NGOs, are participating in this specialized camp.
Civil Defence services serve as vital volunteer-based organizations that protect citizens during emergencies such as war, natural disasters, or accidents. The training is specifically designed to focus on life-saving techniques, minimizing property damage, and maintaining public morale through essential support services, ranging from wartime precautions to modern-day disaster management.
Throughout the week, volunteers will receive hands-on training from expert departments including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire Services, First Aid, and Traffic Safety.
The inaugural event was attended by Madam Lydia (IAS) as the Chief Guest, alongside special guests Divisional Commandant Shri Anil Paruthi and Campus Registrar Dr. Raminderpal Singh. Welcoming the dignitaries, Additional Controller-cum-District Commander S. Gurlavdeep Singh emphasized the importance of such initiatives. During her address, Madam Lydia congratulated the participants for their commitment, noting that their dedication to national service and the welfare of humanity is truly exemplary.
Furthering the encouragement, Anil Kumar Paruthi recalled the heroic efforts of volunteers during "Operation Sindoor" and the Punjab floods, praising their tireless spirit. He expressed high hopes that these volunteers would continue to be the first responders and leaders in serving the nation’s citizens.
The event was also attended by prominent officials including Dr. Sunil Behl, Campus PRO Yashpal, Gurjeevan Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Amarjit Singh, Store Superintendent Parminder Singh Bath, Company Commander Anish Gupta, and Master Trainers Paramjit Singh and Ramandeep Singh.
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the community's emergency response capabilities within the Ferozepur region.
