New Delhi, January 10, 2026:The Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued a Privilege notice to the Commissioner of Jalandhar Police, seeking a detailed response in connection with an FIR registered over a video clip allegedly linked to Delhi Opposition Leader Atishi.
The FIR was lodged in Jalandhar following the circulation of a video of the proceedings of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha dated January 6, 2026.
The Jalandhar Police, along with the Aam Aadmi Party—currently in power in Punjab—had claimed that a forensic examination revealed the video featuring Atishi was deliberately doctored.
However, the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly has expressed serious concern over what has been described as interference by the Punjab Police in the matter.
The Speaker emphasised that proceedings of the Legislative Assembly are internal and privileged affairs of the House, and any external action raises questions of legislative privilege.
The Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat has directed the Jalandhar Police to submit a written explanation along with all relevant documents within 48 hours, by January 12, 2026. The issue has already been referred to the Committee of Privileges of the Delhi Legislative Assembly for further examination.
