Zero tolerance drive continues, over 6 kg heroin seized, three held, one at large
Ferozepur, January 20, 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, under “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, Ferozepur police have arrested three drug peddlers in two separate cases under the NDPS Act and recovered more than 6 kilograms of heroin and a motorcycle, while one is at large.
Bhupinder Singh SSP, said the first operation was conducted by a team led by the SP (Detective), Ferozepur, DSP City Ferozepur and CIA staff. Acting on specific inputs, the police intercepted suspects and arrested Jasveer Singh alias Gora (24), and Rajpal Singh, alias Vicky, residents of village Chak Balocha Wala alias Mahalam under Vero Ke police station in Fazilka district, who is yet to be arrested. During the search, the police recovered 4 kg 479 grams of heroin from their possession. A case FIR No. 19 dated January 18, 2026, under Sections 21/61/85 of the NDPS Act, has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
In the second case, a joint team of the SP (Detective), DSP Zira and Jagdeep Singh, SHO Makhu, arrested Prabhsimran Singh (27) and Sukhwinder Singh (50). From them, the police recovered 2 kg 537 grams of heroin, besides seizing an HF Hero motorcycle used for drug trafficking. This led to the registration of FIR No. 16 dated January 19, 2026, under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act.
However, the old criminal record reveals that Jasvir Singh is already involved in a case under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act on the recovery of 8.5 kg heroin, and Sukhwinder Singh is facing an NDPS Act case of 2020 of 500 gm heroin recovery. Prabhsimran Singh has no criminal record.
Police officials revealed that preliminary investigations indicate links of the arrested accused with an inter-district drug supply network. Efforts are on to trace backwards and forward linkages to identify the main suppliers and beneficiaries.
Appealing to the youths to remain away from drugs, SSP said, said that the Ferozepur police remain committed to eliminating the drug menace from the border district and warned that under the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, strict action will be taken against anyone involved in narcotics smuggling.
