Ghanaur, January 31, 2026: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) received a significant boost in the Ghanaur constituency as more than 50 families quit the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to join the Akali Dal under the leadership of Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, President of the Youth Wing of the party.
The induction programme witnessed considerable enthusiasm among party workers and local residents. The families from villages Salempur Sekhan and Dahriya joined SAD under the leadership of S. Heera Singh, strengthening the party’s grassroots presence in the area.
Addressing the gathering, Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer said the Shiromani Akali Dal is the only party in Punjab that has consistently stood firm for the rights of Punjab, the Panth and Punjabis. He said the growing support for the party reflects renewed public trust in Akali Dal’s ideology and leadership.
Welcoming the newly inducted families, Jhinjer said SAD functions like a family where every worker is accorded respect, dignity and equal rights.
He highlighted that the party has always taken pro-people decisions focused on rural development and the welfare of farmers, youth, women and the underprivileged.
Launching a sharp attack on the Congress and AAP, Jhinjer alleged that both parties made false promises while in power and pushed Punjab towards decline.
He said the Congress has repeatedly betrayed Punjab, while the Aam Aadmi Party has failed to deliver during its four-and-a-half-year rule. He further alleged that law and order has deteriorated under the AAP government, with rising crime, drug menace and public insecurity.
Referring to flood relief efforts, Jhinjer said Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal stood with the people by providing ration, financial assistance and diesel, whereas the AAP government failed to respond effectively and senior Congress leaders remained absent. He asserted that the Akali Dal has always stood with the people in both good and difficult times.
The families joining the party said they were inspired by SAD’s ideology, Panthic thinking and its consistent struggle for Punjab’s rights. They expressed confidence that only the Shiromani Akali Dal can once again put Punjab on the path of development.
Several party leaders and workers, including S. Balwinder Singh, S. Gulzar Singh, S. Jagtar Singh Jaggi and Block Samiti candidate Bibi Sinder Kaur, were present on the occasion.
