Mohali (Punjab), February 17: President of Misl Satluj, Ajay Pal Singh Brar, on Monday launched the “Poora Punjab Lehar” campaign, describing it as a decisive movement aimed at restoring Punjab’s lost glory and reaffirming its spirit of Chardi Kala — the ethos of ever-rising optimism and resilience.
Addressing a gathering at the launch event, Brar said the campaign would serve as a platform to highlight Punjab’s resurgence and push the state back onto a path of progress and leadership.
“Punjab, once a frontrunner among states, has faced a prolonged period of decline. The time has come to reclaim our upward trajectory,” he asserted.
Referring to a salok of the Ninth Guru, Brar said that when the Guru’s blessings are upon a Sikh — and upon Punjab — no challenge in the world is insurmountable. He emphasized that “Poora Punjab Lehar” is not merely a campaign but a renewed direction toward Punjab’s self-respect, empowerment, and political autonomy.
As part of the initiative, a special two-week camp has been organized at Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali, where intellectuals, social activists, youth leaders, and concerned citizens will deliberate on Punjab’s pressing challenges and chart a roadmap for the future.
Several speakers at the inaugural event — including General Secretary Davinder Singh Sekhon, Women’s Wing representative Harpreet Kaur Chadda, Youth Wing leader Yadvinder Singh Yadu, Hardeep Singh Dodd, Sukhwinder Singh Gagan Sidhu, Ranpinderjit Singh Goldy, and Hardev Singh Ghaneewala — echoed the need for a Punjab-centric political framework. They stressed that the present moment demands a visionary movement focused squarely on Punjab’s core issues.
The campaign’s key demands include redefining Centre–Punjab relations in line with India’s federal structure, securing Punjab’s rightful claims over river waters, Chandigarh, and Punjabi-speaking areas, and ensuring financial justice and debt relief. The movement also calls for reopening cross-border trade, resolving pending religious issues concerning the Sikh community, curbing pollution, and implementing concrete measures to build a drug-free Punjab.
Speakers appealed to farmers, workers, intellectuals, youth, and civil society to actively participate in shaping Punjab’s future. They described the initiative as the beginning of a sustained struggle to restore the state’s rights and dignity.
Davinder Singh Sekhon announced that under the “Poora Punjab” initiative, a signature campaign titled “Our Dream: Prosperous and Capable Punjab” has been launched. The campaign aims to collect one lakh signatures by November 2026, which will be submitted to the Prime Minister of India, urging action on Punjab’s demands.
Leaders of Lok Hit Mission, an organization active on social issues under BKU Punjab, including Gurmeet Singh Sattu, Ravinder Singh Wajidpur, and Mandeep Singh, extended their support to the Misl Satluj-led movement.
The event concluded with a call for unity and collective resolve, with organizers expressing confidence that “Poora Punjab Lehar” will mark a historic step toward Punjab’s spiritual, economic, and political rejuvenation.
