Ferozepur (Punjab, February 17, 2026: Under the Nari Adalat Scheme, the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development organised a workshop-cum-training programme at Mamdot block in Ferozepur district. The scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the Sambal sub-scheme of Mission Shakti.
The workshop focused on villages Kakad and Pojo Ke, where women were sensitised about resolving common issues such as harassment, domestic disputes, household conflicts, and property-related disagreements through mediation, counselling and reconciliation in a safe and supportive environment.
The objective of Nari Adalat is to provide women with an accessible, affordable and dignified platform for justice at the village level.
DPO further stated that, through this scheme, women would also be made aware of various government welfare schemes meant for their social, legal and economic empowerment. The initiative aims to ensure that women are informed about the facilities, rights and support systems available to them.
The workshop witnessed the presence of Seema Rani, District Child Protection Officer; Gurmeet Kaur from Sakhi One Stop Centre; Block Coordinators, Supervisors, as well as village sarpanches and panchayat members.
