Amritsar (Punjab), February 18, 2026: In a dramatic press conference, Giani Raghbir Singh levelled serious allegations against the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Badal family, accusing them of large-scale corruption and administrative misconduct within Sikh institutions.
Launching a direct attack on the SGPC’s functioning, he alleged financial irregularities ranging from the sale of dried langar rotis to the disposal of valuable institutional lands.
He claimed that crores of rupees were siphoned off through such practices and further alleged that devotees were being asked to contribute up to ₹5 lakh for organising Akhand Path Sahib ceremonies at gurdwaras.
Raising the long-pending issue of 328 missing sacred saroops, Giani Raghbir Singh questioned the SGPC leadership on their whereabouts and demanded accountability. He asserted that the responsibility for the alleged corruption and mismanagement rests with the top leadership.
Referring to the December 2 Hukamnama concerning the Badal family and the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Jathedar declared that he would not retreat “even an inch” from his stand. “If required in the interest of the Panth, I will not hesitate to call a Sarbat Khalsa,” he announced.
He further accused the Badal family of using religious institutions for personal and political interests, stating that the sanctity and autonomy of Sikh bodies must be restored.
