Chandigarh, February 22, 2026: Member of Parliament from Chandigarh, Manish Tewari, along with H. S. Lucky and senior Congress leader Chander Mukhi Sharma, participated in an important meeting held at Mayur Vihar, Sector 48, on Saturday. The meeting was organized by Mr. J. J. Singh, President of RWA 48, and witnessed the presence of a large number of society residents.
During the discussion, Mr. R. S. Thapar, Co-Convener of Voice of Housing Societies (Sectors 48–51), strongly highlighted the concerns of residents. He remarked that dealing with the Chandigarh Administration often feels like “wading through bureaucratic quicksand,” where clear policies are delayed and lost in procedural complications, leaving citizens entangled for years.
Mr. Thapar raised four major issues, including the alleged incorrect calculation of conversion charges and unearned increase, and emphasized that decisions should be taken in line with the Estate Officer’s recommendations.
He referred to the letter dated June 3, 2025, regarding the transfer of the conversion issue from CHB to the Estate Office.
He also stressed the need to implement the valid orders dated March 16 issued by the then Adviser, Vijay Dev, which provide for granting completion certificates to nearly 20 remaining housing societies.
Clarifying the matter, he stated that the four issues raised do not involve any concessions, and that the relevant guidelines, official orders, and factual positions are already clear.
On the occasion, Mr. J. J. Singh requested MP Manish Tewari to facilitate a meeting between representatives of the housing societies and the Chief Secretary to help resolve the long-pending matters.
Addressing the gathering, Manish Tewari, H. S. Lucky, and Chander Mukhi Sharma assured residents that their concerns would receive due attention and necessary follow-up at the appropriate administrative level.
