26th Athletic Meet of SBS State University concludes with lasting memories
Ferozepur, February 24, 2026: The 26th Athletic Meet of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, concluded on a high note at the campus under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, leaving behind golden memories for participants and spectators alike.
Olympian , Gurvinder Singh Sangha , Superintendent of Police, Punjab, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Assistant Professor Navdeep Kaur, In-charge Sports (Girls), on behalf of the Sports Department.
Addressing the students, the Chief Guest emphasized the vital role of sports in life, stating that games not only keep the body fit but also strengthen mental health. He motivated students to dedicate daily time to sports, highlighting that a healthy mind thrives in a healthy body.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Sharma encouraged students to actively participate in sports and inspire society towards fitness and well-being. He appreciated the enthusiasm shown by students and congratulated the Sports President and team for promoting sports culture on campus.
Various events including discus throw, tug of war, javelin throw, high jump, long jump, and races ranging from 100 meters to 5000 meters, along with special races for staff children, were organized. Winners were awarded medals and certificates.
During the prize distribution ceremony, noted industrialist and Managing Director of Bhagwati Rice Mills, Sameer Mittal, attended as a special guest and contributed ₹10,000 towards encouraging the athletes.
Registrar Dr. Gazalpreet Singh expressed gratitude to all faculty, staff, sports officials, and volunteers for their valuable contribution. Ravinder Singh, Harman, Himanshu Yadav, and Komalpreet Kaur were declared Best Athletes in their respective categories.
