Chandigarh, February 27, 2026: In a significant development in the alleged video controversy involving former Delhi Chief Minister and sitting MLA Atishi, senior Punjab Police and administrative officials appeared before the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Thursday.
Summoned by the Assembly’s Privileges Committee, Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police (Punjab), Alok Shekhar, Home Secretary, Punjab, and Dhanpreet Kaur, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, appeared before the panel and presented their respective positions. The controversy stems from an FIR registered by the Jalandhar Police in connection with an alleged video linked to MLA Atishi.
The action prompted a sharp response from the Delhi Assembly, which viewed the matter as a potential breach of a legislator’s privileges and issued summons to Punjab’s top officials.
Sources said DGP Gaurav Yadav and CP Dhanpreet Kaur provided detailed information regarding the FIR registered in Jalandhar and the subsequent police action. Home Secretary Alok Shekhar also outlined the administrative perspective before the committee.
The Privileges Committee will now review the submissions and statements made by the officials before deciding on the next course of action.
