269 Divyang students receive assistive devices at Special Distribution Camp
Ferozepur, March 3, 2026: In a significant step towards integrating children with disabilities into the mainstream education system, the School Education Department, Punjab, organised a special assistive devices distribution camp across Ferozepur district. A total of 269 Divyang students were provided essential support equipment during camps held on March 2 and 3.
The camps were conducted at Ferozepur, Talwandi Bhai, Makhu and Guruharsahai centres under the leadership of District Education Officer (Elementary Education) Sunita Rani and Deputy District Education Officer (Elementary Education) Komal Arora. The assistive devices were distributed as per recommendations made by expert medical teams during assessment camps conducted in 2025.
Students received wheelchairs, tricycles, battery-operated bicycles, hearing aids, TLM (Teaching Learning Material) kits and smartphones, depending on their individual needs. The initiative aims to ensure that children with disabilities are not left behind due to physical challenges and can actively participate in regular schooling.
Parents attended the camp in large numbers and appreciated the department’s efforts, stating that such initiatives would greatly help in connecting Divyang children with the mainstream education system.
Officials from the District Education Office, including the Deputy District Education Officer, IERTs from all blocks, special educators and members of the ALIMCO team, were present to ensure the smooth distribution of equipment.
Education authorities reiterated that the government is committed to providing quality education and necessary facilities to every child, ensuring equal opportunities for all. The camp witnessed an enthusiastic atmosphere, with visible joy on the faces of the children, reflecting the success of the initiative.
