Sikh delegation led by Paramjit Sarna visits Iranian Embassy, offers condolences over Ali Khamenei’s demise

New Delhi, March 9, 2026: A Sikh delegation led by Paramjit Singh Sarna, President of the Delhi unit of Shiromani Akali Dal, visited the Embassy of Iran to express condolences over the demise of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
During the visit, members of the delegation offered prayers, signed the condolence book and conveyed their sympathies to the government and people of Iran.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarna expressed solidarity with the Iranian people and highlighted the long-standing historical, cultural and economic ties between India and Iran. He said the relationship between the two nations has been built on mutual respect and shared civilisational links.
The delegation also called for restraint and dialogue amid rising tensions in the West Asia region, stressing the importance of peace and stability for the well-being of people across the region.
