Representatives of Misl Satluj, Jasmeet Kaur Chhina and Husandeep Singh, attended the final rites of Ranjit Singh, a youth who was allegedly killed in a police encounter by the Punjab Police in Gurdaspur. The funeral took place in Adian Village, where thousands of justice-seeking citizens gathered to demand accountability and justice for the deceased youth.
Addressing the gathering, Jasmeet Kaur Chhina stated that the incident revives memories of a troubling period in Punjab’s past and that such alleged police encounters are a matter of serious concern. She demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the Gurdaspur incident, to be conducted either by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or by an independent commission formed under the supervision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Chhina emphasized that to ensure a transparent investigation free from pressure or influence, every aspect of the incident must be placed on official record. She further demanded that the police officials allegedly involved in the incident be immediately suspended and that a murder case be registered against them.
Sharing further information, Chhina revealed that Ajay Pal Singh Brar, President of Misl Satluj, has already written to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting a CBI inquiry into the matter. According to her, the Ministry has acknowledged the letter and confirmed via email that the request has been formally taken on record.
Chhina concluded by stating that the struggle for justice for Ranjit Singh will continue at every level, and that the campaign will persist until those responsible are brought within the ambit of the law.
On this occasion, Misl Satluj youth leader Husandeep Singh also affirmed that the organization will continue its efforts to ensure justice for the family of Ranjit Singh.
