25 lakh families registered under Health insurance scheme of Punjab Government: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, March 20, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today disclosed that 25 lakh families have been registered in health insurance scheme of the Punjab government and around 1 lakh 60 thousand people have availed treatment under the scheme.
He was addressing a press conference here along with Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on achievements by health department.
Chief Minister said that during 2025-26 budget Rs. 1200 were kept for this health insurance scheme and in 2026-27 we have kept Rs. 2000 crores for the scheme. He said that government of India has kept Rs. 9300 crore for 150 crore people under the Ayushman scheme and we have kept Rs. 2000 crores for 3 crore people of Punjab. He said that government will open 400 new Aam Admi clinics. He said that we have made record recruitment in health department during last 4 years and recruitment process to recruit 300 nurses and 250 pharmacist was going on. He said that we have spent Rs. 400 crores for purchasing machinery and 22 ICUs were being built.
