Ludhiana (Punjab), March 20, 2026: Punjab marked a significant milestone in its industrial journey as Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday inaugurated the Tata Green Steel Plant in Ludhiana, signalling fresh momentum in the state’s economic growth.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister announced that an additional investment of ₹3,200 crore is in the pipeline, which is expected to further accelerate Punjab’s economy. He highlighted the state’s investor-friendly environment and made strong assertions about its growth trajectory.
Emphasising employment generation, Mann said the newly inaugurated plant will provide direct jobs to around 250 youth in the region. He reiterated that the government’s primary focus is to create opportunities within the state so that young people can find work closer to home.
In his characteristic style, the Chief Minister remarked, “Whether it is a street vendor or a corporate giant like Tata, no one incurs losses in Punjab,” underscoring that the government’s policies are beneficial for businesses across all scales.
The plant, based on green steel technology, is being seen as a major step towards environmentally sustainable industrial development. Mann noted that the entry of a major industrial group like Tata Group reflects growing investor confidence in Punjab, driven by initiatives such as the single-window clearance system and a corruption-free administrative framework.
He also extended an open invitation to other investors to explore opportunities in the state, positioning Punjab as a competitive and progressive industrial destination.
