Sukhwinder Singh Bindra Distributed Appointment Letters and Certificates to New Members of Disaster Rescuers Punjab
Ludhiana, March 2026 – Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member (NISD) and Special Invitee/Member (NCCDR), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (Government of India), attended a समारोह organized by Disaster Rescuers Punjab as the Chief Guest. During the event, he distributed appointment letters and certificates to the newly inducted members.
On this occasion, he stated that both he and his department are firmly committed to the welfare of Punjab and its youth. He emphasized that continuous efforts will be made to protect young people from drug abuse. He also highlighted the importance of sports in keeping the youth away from drugs and mentioned that sports kits will be distributed in the near future to encourage them towards a healthier lifestyle.
Bindra further added that additional initiatives will be undertaken to guide the energy of young people in the right direction by steering them away from substance abuse and motivating them towards sports and constructive activities.
He reiterated that his department is consistently working to keep youth away from drugs. He assured that in collaboration with the Hon’ble Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar, continuous efforts will be made for the welfare, development, and well-being of youth, ensuring they stay away from drug abuse. He also shed light on the crucial role of youth empowerment and awareness programs in preventing substance abuse.
Bindra shared that he has previously served as the State Chairperson of the Punjab Youth Development Board (Government of Punjab). During his tenure, he actively promoted sports among youth and distributed free sports kits in youth clubs, colleges, and universities. He also ensured that athletes facing difficulties received timely support so that their sporting careers were not hindered. He emphasized that even now, his department continues to extend full support to players in need.
In conclusion, Bindra expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah, and Cabinet Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar for their visionary leadership and ongoing efforts to empower the youth.
