Chandigarh, March 29, 2026: Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, demanding an apology for what he termed a “false and misleading” resolution on the oil and gas issue passed in the Assembly.
Jakhar said the AAP government created unnecessary panic among people by raising concerns over fuel shortage, leading to rumours and hoarding, even though there was no actual disruption in supply.
He questioned why such a resolution was brought if the Chief Minister now claims that there is no shortage.
He credited the Centre’s policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring uninterrupted supply of crude oil and gas, asserting that India is capable of handling global challenges.
Calling it a pattern, Jakhar alleged that creating confusion has become AAP’s political strategy, but added that the people of Punjab are aware and cannot be misled. He demanded that the state government withdraw the resolution in the next Assembly session and apologise for spreading misinformation.
On the DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa case, Jakhar said the victim’s family deserves justice and criticised alleged attempts to intimidate them.
He also targeted the Congress, accusing it of double standards and asking the party to clarify its stand on the demand for a CBI probe. Jakhar said the people of Punjab are closely watching political actions and will respond accordingly.
