Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University hosts 2nd National Moot Court Competition 2026
Justice H.S. Sethi Highlights Role of Legal Training

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), April 3, 2026: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University successfully inaugurated the second edition of its National Moot Court Competition 2026, marking a strong start to the academic event with participation from leading law institutions across the country.
The inaugural session was graced by Harsimran Singh Sethi, who emphasised the importance of practical legal training in shaping future lawyers. Drawing from his experience, he urged students to develop analytical thinking, ethical values and a strong commitment to justice, noting that moot court competitions play a crucial role in understanding courtroom procedures and advocacy.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh encouraged participants to maintain high standards of professionalism and embrace the spirit of healthy competition. Senior university officials, including Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing and Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Tejbir Singh, were also present.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean of the University School of Law, highlighted the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with practical exposure through such platforms.
The opening day saw registrations, academic interactions and a researcher test to assess participants’ analytical skills. Preliminary rounds were conducted in a simulated courtroom environment, where teams presented arguments before panels comprising experienced advocates from district courts and high courts.
The day concluded with the announcement of teams advancing to the quarter-finals. The event was coordinated by Dr. Navneet Kaur, with several faculty members and legal professionals in attendance.
