Punjab CM Mann visits Jagraon, consoles Mathura boat tragedy victims’ families; Assures full support

Jagraon (Ludhiana), April 11, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday visited Jagraon to share the grief of families who lost their loved ones in the tragic boat capsizing incident near Mathura and assured them of all possible assistance during this difficult time.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives, the Chief Minister said the victims were on a pilgrimage to Vrindavan when the boat overturned in the Yamuna River. So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, while search operations continue for four missing persons.

He informed that Punjab has dispatched teams of divers to assist in rescue operations and is maintaining close coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government. Adequate medical treatment is also being provided to those who survived the tragedy.
Highlighting the need for accountability, the Chief Minister stressed that the safety of pilgrims at religious sites must be ensured at all costs. He said he has spoken to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to strengthen safety measures and prevent such incidents in the future.

“My heartfelt condolences are with the bereaved families. Punjab stands firmly with them in this hour of crisis,” he said, praying for peace for the departed souls and strength for the affected families.
