Adampur (Jalandhar), April 14, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on previous Congress and Akali governments, accusing them of neglecting education for underprivileged communities and undermining the vision of B.R. Ambedkar.
Addressing a state-level function marking Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, Mann alleged that past regimes deliberately kept poorer sections uneducated, which adversely impacted generations, especially among Dalit youth. He further claimed that funds meant for scholarships were misused, depriving deserving students of opportunities.
Contrasting his government’s approach, Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party administration is focusing on education and financial empowerment to ensure dignity and equal opportunity. He emphasised that education remains the most effective tool to eliminate poverty and social inequality.
The Chief Minister also announced the rollout of the ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana,’ under which women will receive monthly financial assistance, with enhanced benefits for Scheduled Caste women. He said the scheme aims to empower women economically, with funds being directly transferred to their bank accounts.
Highlighting governance initiatives, Mann said the state has improved power supply to farmers, provided free electricity to domestic consumers, and created employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
He also encouraged greater participation of women in politics and decision-making, stressing that their involvement is essential for building an equitable society.
Extending greetings on Baisakhi, Mann said the occasion reflects Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and urged people to celebrate it with unity and harmony.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of constitutional values and social justice, while reiterating the government’s commitment to fulfilling the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar.
