Chandigarh, April 25, 2026: Renowned kabaddi player Pala Jalalpuria, popularly known as a “close fighter” in the sport, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party, marking a notable addition from the sports fraternity to Punjab politics.
A star stopper in Punjab’s traditional sport kabaddi, Jalalpuria formally became part of the AAP family in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who welcomed and honoured him during the induction.
The move is being seen as AAP’s continued outreach to influential figures in sports and society, especially those connected with Punjab’s cultural roots. Kabaddi, often referred to as the “mother sport” of Punjabis, holds deep emotional and cultural significance in the state.
