Amritsar (Punjab), May 2, 2026: Sri Akal Takht Sahib has declined a proposal seeking approval to produce a film on the life of legendary Sikh warrior Hari Singh Nalwa, citing a recent directive prohibiting films, animations, and AI-based portrayals of revered Sikh historical personalities.
The decision was conveyed by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, who referred to a resolution passed on December 28, 2025, by the five Sikh high priests. The resolution bars visual or digital depiction of highly respected Sikh historical figures, including warriors like Hari Singh Nalwa.
The proposal had been submitted by Mumbai-based Bhanushali Studio Limited. Co-producer Bhavesh Bhanushali had reportedly sought a meeting with Sri Akal Takht Sahib authorities and members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to discuss the project.
