Ministry of Railways issues notification to acquire 18.1 km land for Rajpura-Chandigarh rail link

Chandigarh, May 3, 2026: Ministry of Railways has issues public notice to acquire land falling in Fatehgarh Sahib district as part of this 18.1 km Rajpura-Chandigarh Rail link.
Ministry has invited objections within 30 days if any body has objections in acquiring this chunk of land. Objections can be filed with Sub Divisional Magistrat (SDM) Fatehgarh Sahib.
It is worth mentioning is that Railway is 100 percent funding this project which is likely to cost Rs. 443 crore. Out of total 18.11 km of land 4 km falls in Fatehgarh Sahib, 8 km in Patiala and 5 km in Mohali. Ministry aims to complete this project within two years.
