Ludhiana (Punjab, May 2, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trade wing on Friday staged a protest at Clock Tower, Ludhiana, against the recent hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices, targeting the BJP-led Central Government over rising inflation.
The protest saw participation from MLAs Ashok Parashar Pappi and Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal, along with Chairman Anil Thakur, Sahil Agarwal, District Incharge Jatinder Khangura, Senior Vice Industry Chairman Sharanpal Singh Makkar, Punjab State Women Commission member Ajinderpal Kaur, and several party workers.
Addressing the gathering, AAP leaders alleged that the Centre has failed the common man and accused it of ignoring public hardship while allowing fuel prices to rise sharply.
They pointed out that the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by ₹993 in the latest revision, marking the third consecutive monthly hike. Earlier increases included ₹195.50 on April 1 and ₹114.50 on March 1, taking the total rise in commercial LPG prices to ₹1,303 over three months.
The leaders also highlighted that while commercial LPG prices have surged, domestic cylinder rates have remained unchanged in the latest revision, though earlier increases had already impacted households.
They criticised the Centre for not preparing a long-term strategy to shield citizens from global energy price fluctuations, blaming disruptions in West Asia for the rising fuel costs.
The protestors further alleged that the government becomes concerned about public issues only during elections, while remaining indifferent at other times.
Several AAP functionaries and workers were present during the demonstration, raising slogans against inflation and central policies.
