Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria urges youth to follow Maharana Pratap’s ideals for national unity

Nawanshahr (Punjab), May 9, 2026:Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Saturday called upon people, especially the youth, to imbibe the ideals of Maharana Pratap to strengthen the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation.
Addressing a large gathering during Maharana Pratap Jayanti celebrations organised at Balachaur, the Governor said the life and sacrifices of the legendary Rajput warrior continue to inspire generations across India.
Paying tribute to Maharana Pratap, the Governor said the warrior devoted his life to safeguarding the honour and integrity of the country while courageously resisting Mughal rule. He described Maharana Pratap’s bravery and sacrifice as unmatched in history and said such personalities remain enduring symbols of patriotism, dignity, and self-respect.
The Governor also highlighted Punjab’s historic contribution toward protecting the nation and preserving religious freedom. Referring to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, he said the sacrifices made by the Sikh Guru and his family for humanity and the country continue to inspire generations.
Describing India as a land of heroes and martyrs, Mr. Kataria stressed the importance of educating younger generations about the lives, struggles, and philosophies of great historical figures. He said such commemorative events help instill values of courage, unity, and national pride among the youth.
Earlier, the Governor inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial lamp and later flagged off a grand Shobha Yatra organised by Rajput Sabha Balachaur, which passed through different parts of the town.
On his arrival, the Governor was welcomed by MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, MLA Santosh Kataria, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi, DIG Satinder Singh, SSP Tushar Gupta, SDM Sunil Phogat, and representatives of Rajput Sabha Balachaur led by President Bhupinder Rana.
The Rajput Sabha also honoured the Governor during the concluding ceremony.
