Ferozepur, May 13, 2026: In a major boost to rail connectivity and passenger convenience, the Railways has announced the operation of a new Amrit Bharat Express train service between Amritsar and New Jalpaiguri. Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh will formally flag off the new train service on May 14 at 12:45 pm from Amritsar railway station.
According to railway authorities, Train No. 14664/14663 Amritsar–New Jalpaiguri–Amritsar Amrit Bharat Express will start operating from May 14, 2026.
Train No. 14664 will depart from Amritsar every Thursday at 12:45 pm and reach New Jalpaiguri at 4:15 am after a journey of approximately 39 hours.
Similarly, Train No. 14663 will commence service from New Jalpaiguri from May 16, 2026 and will run every Saturday. The train will leave New Jalpaiguri at 8:00 am and arrive in Amritsar at 2:20 am after around 42 hours of travel.
For the convenience of passengers, the train will halt at several major stations in both directions, including Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Raxaul, Sitamarhi, Araria, Siliguri and several other stations en route.
The Amrit Bharat Express will comprise eight sleeper class coaches and 11 general category coaches.

Railway authorities have urged passengers to make use of the new train service for a smooth, affordable and comfortable journey between Punjab and the northeastern region.
