1994-Batch Karnataka IAS Officer Given Additional Charge of Secretary, National Commission for Minorities

New Delhi, May 30, 2026: The Central Government has assigned additional charge of the post of Secretary, National Commission for Minorities (NCM), to Srivatsa Krishna, IAS (Karnataka Cadre: 1994), who is currently serving as Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs.
According to an official order, the Competent Authority has approved the arrangement following the superannuation of Alka Upadhyaya on May 31, 2026.
Srivatsa Krishna will hold the additional charge of Secretary, National Commission for Minorities, in addition to his existing responsibilities as Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs.
The arrangement will remain in force until a regular incumbent is appointed to the post or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
A senior IAS officer of the 1994 batch from the Karnataka cadre, Srivatsa Krishna has held several key assignments in both the Karnataka Government and the Government of India. He is presently heading the Ministry of Minority Affairs as Secretary.
The National Commission for Minorities is a statutory body tasked with safeguarding the interests of minority communities and monitoring the implementation of constitutional and legal safeguards available to them.
