Chandigarh, July 7, 2026: The Punjab Government has launched a state-wide campaign to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, with a 30-minute documentary on the Guru’s life and teachings being screened in more than 13,000 villages through mobile LED vans.
Announcing the year-long celebrations, Punjab Tourism and Culture Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is taking the message of equality, devotion and social harmony preached by Sri Guru Ravidass Ji to every village across the state.
Sond said the documentary screenings are aimed at familiarising people, especially the younger generation, with Guru Ravidass Ji’s life and teachings.
As part of the celebrations, four Shobha Yatras from Varanasi, Faridkot, Jammu and Bathinda will converge at Sri Khuralgarh Sahib, while Tirath Yatras will be organised to enable devotees from across Punjab to visit Guru Ravidass Ji’s Janam Asthan in Varanasi.
The minister said seminars on Guru Ravidass Ji’s philosophy will also be organised in schools, colleges and universities to promote his teachings among students.
In addition, the state will undertake a major environmental initiative by planting 6.5 lakh saplings in each district. The year-long commemorations will also include blood donation camps, marathons, cycle rallies and Kirtan Samagams across Punjab.
Sond said the objective is to celebrate the historic occasion on a scale that reflects the enduring legacy and profound social impact of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.
