CGC University Mohali inaugurates state-of-the-art 'Milkha Singh Arena'

Mohali (Punjab), July 27, 2026: CGC University Mohali inaugurated the state-of-the-art 'Milkha Singh Arena' to promote sports excellence among students and inspire young athletes. This state-of-the-art indoor sports facility has been designed to instill the spirit of discipline, dedication and hard work.
Ritu Pathak, Executive Director, Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. In addition, Dr. Alok Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary, Association of Indian Universities, was the special guest.
Built in the memory of India's greatest athlete Milkha Singh, affectionately known as "The Flying Sikh", the arena is a symbol of determination, resilience and an invincible will to succeed. The facility is an inspiring tribute to the great athlete whose journey continues to inspire the youth to dream big and overcome obstacles.
Sharing his views on the occasion, Arsh Dhaliwal, Managing Director of the University, said that our main objective is to provide all-round development to the students. This arena is not just a sports facility, but it is a tool to instill discipline, team spirit and the spirit of winning in our youth. We want our students to reach new heights in sports as well as studies.
Milkha Singh Arena has been designed as a premier centre for sports and fitness. It has the following special facilities available.
It includes a boxing ring, badminton court, fully equipped indoor gym for participating in various sports. This facility provides an energetic environment for students to train, compete and keep their lifestyle active.
