New PSPCL, PSTCL Chairman Gurkirat Kirpal Singh holds first meeting, directs officials to ensure reliable power supply

Patiala, September 18, 2026: Newly appointed Chairman of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), IAS officer Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, held his first meeting with directors and senior officials of both corporations at the PSPCL headquarters in Patiala on Friday.
During the meeting, the Chairman reviewed the current functioning of the two power corporations, including electricity demand and supply, power generation, power purchases, the performance of existing thermal plants, coal availability, transmission and distribution arrangements, and issues related to electricity billing.
Singh said ensuring an uninterrupted and reliable power supply to domestic and commercial consumers across Punjab would remain a key priority. He also stressed the importance of providing farmers with eight hours of uninterrupted agricultural power supply as per the scheduled timings.
The Chairman directed officials to strengthen power generation, transmission and supply arrangements in line with the state’s electricity demand. He also called for continuous monitoring of the performance of thermal plants, coal availability and the power purchase position.
Officials were further instructed to ensure the prompt resolution of problems related to domestic, agricultural and commercial power supply and strengthen field-level monitoring.
Singh also directed officials to ensure timely resolution of consumer complaints and work towards continuously improving the quality of electricity services.
Addressing print and electronic media representatives, Singh said suggestions from the media would always be welcomed and that media representatives could meet him at his office at any time.
He also highlighted the importance of social media and encouraged consumers to follow PSPCL’s official handles on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube for timely and accurate information about new initiatives and government policies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Singh directed officials of both corporations to work in close coordination, streamline power management and ensure improved services for consumers.
Director Distribution Engineer Inderpal Singh, Director Generation Engineer Punardeep Singh Brar, Director Commercial Engineer Harsharan Kaur Trehan, PSTCL Director Finance CA Vinod Bansal and heads of departments of PSPCL were present at the meeting.
