Breaking: Punjab notifies 'Grant of Dearness Relief' to pensioners also

Chandigarh, September 23, 2026: The Punjab Government has announced a major relief for pensioners and family pensioners by increasing the Dearness Relief (DR) from 42% to 50%.
The Department of Finance issued the notification on Wednesday, stating that the 8-percentage-point increase will come into effect from September 1, 2026, and will be payable with the September 2026 pension/family pension.
The decision has been approved by the Governor of Punjab.
The notification applies to all pensioners and family pensioners of the Government of Punjab. It has been circulated to concerned departments, treasury officers, Accountant General offices and pension authorities for necessary action.
