Central team to visit Himachal from Sept 28 to assess Rs 3,200 crore monsoon damage

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), September 26, 2026: An Inter-Ministerial Central Team from the Ministry of Home Affairs will visit Himachal Pradesh from September 28 to October 1 to assess damage caused by this year’s monsoon, including cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides.
The visit comes after the Himachal Pradesh government submitted a memorandum to the Centre seeking assistance for ₹3,200 crore in monsoon-related losses.
The team will conduct field inspections in affected areas to assess the extent of damage and the current situation on the ground. Its assessment report will help determine the amount of assistance to be provided to the state under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
Assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) is determined separately in accordance with the recommendations of the Finance Commission.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ramchandrudu, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, will lead the central team. He is scheduled to arrive at Gaggal Airport on September 28.
The team will undertake field visits to disaster-affected areas during its stay. A field visit to Banjar is scheduled for September 30, following which the team will leave for Shimla.
The central team is also scheduled to meet Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on the morning of October 1. Before returning, it will visit disaster-affected areas in Shimla, Kasauli and Parwanoo.
The four-day visit is aimed at providing an on-ground assessment of the damage reported by the state government following the monsoon season.
