He said that his political and personal relationship with Manpreet Singh Badal is longstanding and that he would always continue to respect him.
Sodhi said that if Sardar Manpreet Singh Badal does not stake his claim for the BJP ticket from the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency, he himself will seek the party ticket from the constituency.
He said that he has ancestral and family ties with the Gidderbaha area. His ancestral village, Mallan, is one of the prominent and larger villages in the constituency. According to him, his elders have long enjoyed respect, recognition and goodwill throughout the area. The Sodhi family has traditionally been accorded the respect given to revered elders by the people of the region. For this reason, he shares a deep emotional and familial bond with Gidderbaha.
Sodhi said he believed that Sardar Manpreet Singh Badal might be interested in contesting from the Bathinda Assembly constituency. However, if he decides to contest the Assembly election from his old constituency of Gidderbaha, Sodhi said he would wholeheartedly support and respect him and would take up the responsibility of campaigning with complete dedication to ensure his victory. He said that Sardar Manpreet Singh Badal is his political mentor and that his respect and devotion toward him would always remain intact.
It is worth mentioning that Arun Jot Singh Sodhi’s ancestral village, Mallan, falls in the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency. He has also previously served as the District Youth Congress president in the area, due to which he has his own identity and political base in this constituency of Muktsar district.
Sodhi said that several villages inhabited by the Khatri community fall within the Gidderbaha constituency and that the BJP already enjoys considerable influence in Gidderbaha city. Keeping all these factors in mind, he is keen to contest the Assembly election from his ancestral constituency of Gidderbaha on a BJP ticket.
Recalling his family’s old associations, he said that in the past, several prominent political leaders had visited his ancestral village, Mallan, and begun their election campaigns after paying obeisance at the memorials of his elders. He said that his family has enjoyed a longstanding reputation for dignity, honour and respect in the area.
Sodhi expressed hope that the people of Gidderbaha would shower him with love and respect and give him an opportunity to serve them. He said that he would always remain ready to serve the people of the constituency and that if the BJP high command decided to give him the ticket, he would enter the electoral fray with complete dedication.
He also said that if Manpreet Singh Badal does not stake his claim from Gidderbaha, he would submit a written request to the BJP high command and formally stake his claim for the ticket from the constituency.
